MRIGlobal has sponsored and coached Paseo’s FIRST Robotics team since the team’s beginning in 2006, impacting the lives of more than 150 students from Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. Volunteers and coaches put in countless hours over the years while positively impacting student’s lives.
“When we started the FIRST robotics program at Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts in 2006, we knew it was going to take professional people and money.
MRIGlobal came, funded the program and mentored each student. I am eternally grateful, because without MRIGlobal, there would be no team. This program has had a huge impact in the lives of our students. For example, many had no idea what an engineer does. They had no idea how exciting this program is.
We have had 15 graduates—those are just the ones I know of—who entered engineering fields as a result of this program. Last year, our team captain graduated with a full-ride to the engineering program at Kansas State University. Without robotics, engineering would not have been on his radar,” said Kim Burke, Paseo Chemistry Instructor and Robotics Coach since 2006.
“We support of STEM education and FIRST robotics,” said Thomas M. Sack, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of MRIGlobal. “We are very proud of what the Paseo students have achieved and appreciate the hard work of our staff who coach and mentor them. We look forward to seeing what their robot can do.”
