MRIGlobal Experts Moderated Discussions Spanning Biodefense, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, Public-Private Partnerships
MRIGlobal experts moderated and participated in three panel discussions at the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Biothreats and the National Defense Industry Association’s (NDIA) Special Operation/Low Intensity Conflict SO/LIC conferences.
- At the ASM Biothreats conference, Kenneth Yeh, Senior Science Advisor, convened a session Detection of Biological Agents in the Field: Then and Now – Panel with six panelists including Joseph A. Russell, III, Ph.D., MRIGlobal Senior Scientist (panelist) who spoke on the technical and operational aspects related to genomic sequencing.
- Gene Olinger, Ph.D., MBA, MRIGlobalPrincipal Science Advisor followed up at ASM Biothreats with an industry workshop, Acceleration of Medical countermeasures thru Public Private Partnerships – Industry and Science Workshop featuring six panelists.
- At the NDIA SO/LIC conference, MRIGlobal’s Chris Royse convened a panel discussion on Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Along with three distinguished speakers, they discussed challenges facing the US and its allies when countering WMD with known and unknown adversaries worldwide.
Each conference attracted more than 3,000 attendees including scientists, military, defense, and other government programmers. MRIGlobal’s participation at ASM originated when the conference began around 2002. Both conferences were in Crystal City, VA.
