Heather Leith

Ms. Leith joined the AAFP as General Counsel in 2013 and was named General Counsel and Vice President in 2020. She previously served as assistant general counsel at Hallmark Cards. Prior to her assignment at Hallmark she served as a law clerk at the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York.
Ms. Leith holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in English from Grinnell College and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School. Ms. Leith is a member of the Bar in Kansas, Missouri, and New York.
Ms. Leith actively participates on the executive management team and with Board of Directors for AAFP in corporate management and governance, strategic planning, culture development, compliance, risk assessment, and financial planning. She serves on Retirement Committee and, until 2020, was the Institutional Officer for the AAFP Institutional Review Board. Ms. Leith’s focus areas include intellectual property, employment issues, nonprofit and association law, government and private-sector contracts, corporate transactions, commercial real estate, and litigation strategy and management.
Ms. Leith works with Prison Legal Services Clinic, Habitat for Humanity, and the TRO Project.
