More than 500 civic leaders, community partners, science enthusiasts, clients, peers and friends gathered today at a 75th Anniversary Luncheon to celebrate those who have supported MRIGlobal’s mission.
The event featured a Science Showcase of projects from MRIGlobal and work by students in STEM programs that MRIGlobal scientists and engineers volunteer mentor.
Bill Nye, well-known science educator, television star, and mechanical engineer, presented the keynote address. Nye is best known as the host of the PBS and syndicated children’s science show Bill Nye the Science Guy, the Netflix show Bill Nye Saves the World, and for appearances in popular media as a science communicator and STEM education advocate.
Speakers also included MRIGlobal Board Chair David Oliver and Thomas Sack, Ph.D., President and CEO of MRIGlobal, who reviewed MRIGlobal’s historic beginnings in Kansas City and thoughts about the organization’s future.
Said Sack, “As we embark on our next 75 years, we will pursue new opportunities to collaborate with clients, both established and emerging, to solve complex health and safety issues.
“Now more than ever, the world needs MRIGlobal’s expertise. MRIGlobal will be there to provide scientific solutions to these important challenges. The foundation is strong. Over time, our leadership, staff, and clients will change, and the specific challenges we solve will change, too.
“But one thing will never change: The vision, inspiration, and passion of our people – combined with a steadfast commitment to our community and core mission of improving the health and safety of all people – will continue to guide our next 75 years and beyond.”
