MRIGlobal Wins Renewed Contract for Threat Detection
Contract Renews Biological Analysis Services for Pentagon Force Protection Agency
(Kansas City, MO) October 4, 2012 – MRIGlobal today announced that it has been awarded a new $17.9 million five-year contract with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, to provide services for the collection and analysis of environmental samples for biological threat agent detection.
The work is an extension of the services MRIGlobal has provided for more than a decade.
Under this program, MRIGlobal provides sampling, logistical, and analytical support to the agency’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Directorate Laboratory Analysis and Collections Program.
MRIGlobal provides technical staff, sampling, logistical tools, equipment, materials, scientific expertise, and management in operating a 24/7 analysis of environmental samples collected from the facilities and locations around and within the National Capital Region. Environmental samples are analyzed using immunological and molecular methods, and other confirmatory technologies, in high-throughput labs located on the Pentagon Reservation and at MRIGlobal’s National Capital Region facility.
“This work is part of the critical frontline in protecting the nation from biological threat,” said Michael F. Helmstetter, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer. “This award recognizes our expertise and 10 years of uninterrupted 7-by-24 service in the analysis of environmental samples from the nation’s Capital region.”
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency is responsible for the protection of the Pentagon and related Department of Defense personnel and facilities. This program provides monitoring for biological agents in accordance with the PFPA Detect-to-Treat mission.
In addition to the 24/7 analysis, MRIGlobal provides services for the evaluation and validation of analytical methods that enhance the PFPA biological threat agent detection mission.
