Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC
MRIGlobal is one of two partners in the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC (Alliance), which manages and operates the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for the U.S. Department of Energy. MRIGlobal has managed NREL since its inception as the Solar Energy Research Institute in 1977.
NREL's mission is to develop renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and practices, advance related science and engineering, and transfer knowledge and innovations to address the nation's energy and environmental goals. Under the current management and operations contract with the Alliance, NREL’s mission has expanded to include accelerated commercialization and deployment of revolutionary innovation; market-relevant innovation, particularly in biofuel systems and renewable power systems engineering; world-leading energy analysis; and a world-class renewable energy Campus of the Future.
Dycor Technologies, Ltd.
MRIGlobal has developed a strategic relationship with Dycor Technologies, Ltd. (Dycor), a Canadian company with expertise in energy-related services. Dycor complements MRIGlobal’s expertise in chemical and biological detection with special expertise in the engineering design, development, and manufacturing of products that detect chemical and biological agents.
Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute, Inc.
MRIGlobal is one of the charter stakeholders in the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute, Inc. (KCALSI), which was founded by the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Area Development Council.
The Institute supports KCALSI in its role to:
- Help develop relationships between the academic and private sectors
- Assist scientific collaborative research efforts
- Oversee and manage fundraising and marketing activities
- Advocate for the life sciences at the local, state, and national levels
- Provide support to economic development and technology transfer and commercialization organizations
MRIGlobal - Kansas, LLC
MRIGlobal established MRIGlobal - Kansas, LLC in 2009. As a wholly owned subsidiary of MRIGlobal headquartered in Manhattan, KS, MRIGlobal - Kansas supports economic development opportunities in the animal health, biosecurity, and advanced energy business sectors.
Kansas State University/MRI Biodefense Research Coalition
An alliance between MRIGlobal and Kansas State University (K-State) in Manhattan, KS, promotes collaboration on important research. MRIGlobal is strategically involved in the Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) at Pat Roberts Hall on the K-State campus. And MRIGlobal recently worked with Kansas State University and the Heartland BioAgro Consortium (HBAC)—a combination of research universities, institutes, hospitals, subject-matter experts, and firms in the bioscience industry—on the successful bid for the new National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) on the K-State campus.
MRI Ventures
MRI Ventures is a for-profit subsidiary of MRIGlobal. Founded in 1982, MRI Ventures handles the commercialization of intellectual property and new technologies that are developed either at MRIGlobal or through collaborative efforts involving the Institute. The strategies used in translational research—bringing research developments out of the lab and into the marketplace—include all stages of new product development, licensing, technology assessment, market forecasting, investment management, strategy development, and business planning.
