Missouri Governor Jay Nixon made his inaugural visit to MRIGlobal recently, touring labs and meeting with staff at the Kansas City headquarters.   

The Governor and his team made the visit in part to thank MRIGlobal President and CEO Dr. Michael Helmstetter for his support of Missouri Senate Bill 7, the Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act (MOSIRA). MOSIRA, designed to encourage technology-based economic development, is the broadest statewide strategy for direct investment in innovation to date.

Governor Nixon was briefed on recent projects in algae, biofuels and biochar, as well as a recent contract win with the National Cancer Institute. Read the Press Release.

He said he was impressed by the depth and breadth of the work MRIGlobal is doing.  “I will be back,” he vowed. “I want to learn more about what you do.”
