MRIGlobal presented at 98th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board

Four of MRIGlobal’s Transportation Research Center staff participated in the 98th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board, held in Washington, DC, January 13-17, 2019. Dan Cook, Darren Torbic, Ingrid Potts and Doug Harwood all presented or presided over sessions and workshops during this four day event.

Dan Cook:

  • Presented “Reliability Analysis for Roadway Curves with Horizontal Sightline Obstructions” in a podium session

  • Presented on the status of NCHRP Project 17-84 (Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Performance Functions) to the Bicycle Committee and its Bicycle Transportation Research Subcommittee, the Pedestrian Committee and its Pedestrian Research Subcommittee, and the Highway Safety Performance Committee
  • Presented on the status of NCHRP Project 20-07 (393) (Traffic Safety Countermeasures: Impacts on Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety) to the Pedestrian Research Subcommittee
  • Presented on the status of NCHRP Projects 17-68 (Intersection Crash Prediction Methods) and 17-77 (Quantitative Approaches to Systemic Safety Analysis) to the Highway Safety Performance Committee


Ingrid Potts:

  • Co-presided over a workshop titled “Risky Business: Exploring What Lies Ahead for Designing Roads for All Users”
  • Served as co-chair of the Hot Topics for Roadways Subcommittee
  • Presented on “Design and Access Management for Trucks” in a session featuring best papers from the 2018 Access Management Conference


Doug Harwood:

  • Presided over the International Symposia on Geometric Design Joint Subcommittee

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) 98th Annual Meeting was held January 13–17, 2019, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, D.C. The information-packed program is expected to attract more than 13,000 transportation professionals from around the world.

The meeting program covered all transportation modes, with more than 5,000 presentations in nearly 800 sessions and workshops, addressing topics of interest to policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions.
